About Penguin

Penguin is one of the world's three largest English-language publishers, and publishes books in a wide variety of formats and subjects for adults and children, embracing fiction and non-fiction. Besides Australia, Penguin has companies in the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, India, South Africa, Holland, Italy, China and Singapore and is one of the more versatile and adventurous publishing houses in the world - a unique situation which had its modest beginning with Allen Lane's ten paperbacks published at sixpence each.

Penguin Australia’s broad, vibrant and successful local publishing programme started in 1963 with Randolph Stow’s To the Islands. Today Penguin is home to some of Australia’s bestselling and award-winning writers and illustrators: Stephanie Alexander, Pamela Allen, Graeme Base, Isobelle Carmody, Kaz Cooke, Bryce Courtenay, Robert Drewe, Mem Fox, Morris Gleitzman, Paul Jennings and Tim Winton are all household names and show the diversity of their list.

Thanks, Penguin!

Penguin provides thousands of books each year as rewards for participants who complete the MS Readathon, from children’s literature and fiction, to fantastic exploratory science and reference books. Schools who support the MS Readathon are also rewarded with book-packs, made possible through Penguin’s support. Penguin authors are also happy to champion the MS Readathon by attending our events and encouraging children to dive into some great books! Thanks Penguin, for your tremendous support over the years!
